Conflict of Interest and Financial Disclosures (Reviewers)

Reviewers of International Journal of Data Warehousing and Data Mining must be able to judge a manuscript impartially.

What counts as a conflict

  • Financial: employment, consultancy, shares, patents or funding connected with the work or with a competing interest
  • Personal or professional: recent collaboration, shared institution, supervision, close friendship or rivalry with an author
  • Intellectual: working on a directly competing study

What to do

If you recognise a conflict, or guess the authors' identity and have a relationship with them, tell the editor before starting the review. In most cases you will be asked to decline. If you are unsure, disclose it and let the editor decide.

Undisclosed conflicts found later may lead to removal from the reviewer pool.

The general rules are in the Conflict of Interest Policy.
