Publication Charges
Thomson & Ryberg Publications is an open-access publisher of peer-reviewed journals covering a wide range of academic disciplines. Readers pay nothing, and the cost of publishing is covered by an Article Processing Charge (APC) paid by the authors or their funder once a manuscript has been accepted. There is no submission fee, and rejected manuscripts are never charged.
Article Processing Charges
The charge depends on the corresponding author's country, by World Bank income group, and on the article type. Amounts are in US dollars.
| Country income group | Research | Review | Case-based | Short communication |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| High income | $1,079 | $879 | $779 | $579 |
| Middle income | $779 | $579 | $479 | $379 |
| Low income | $579 | $379 | $279 | $179 |
Optional English-language editing is charged separately at $179.
Waivers
A full waiver is available to authors from low-income countries, to authors who can show financial hardship or have no funding, and to students and early-career researchers without independent support. Ask for a waiver when you submit, with a short explanation. The decision is made before peer review, so an author's ability to pay has no bearing on the editorial decision.
Payment
Payment is requested only after acceptance and can be made by card through a secure gateway or by bank transfer.
