Peer Review Process

The peer review of a manuscript at International Journal of Geology and Geotechnical Engineering follows these steps.

  1. The editor screens the submission for scope, completeness and basic quality. Manuscripts that are clearly unsuitable are returned without review.
  2. The text is checked for similarity to published work with iThenticate.
  3. The editor invites at least two independent reviewers. Identities are hidden in both directions.
  4. Reviewers submit their reports and recommendations.
  5. The editor makes a decision and sends it to the author with the reports.
  6. If revision is requested, the author responds point by point and resubmits. The revised version may go back to the reviewers.
  7. The editor makes the final decision.

Authors who disagree with a decision may appeal; see Complaints and Appeals. The principles behind the process are in the Peer Review Policy.

Before submitting, see the Author Guidelines and the Plagiarism Policy.
