Generative AI (GenAI) Policy

This policy sets out how generative AI tools may be used in work submitted to International Journal of Advertising and Brand Management.

Authors

  • AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authorship carries responsibility that only people can take.
  • AI may be used to improve language and readability. Any such use must be stated in the manuscript, naming the tool and what it was used for.
  • Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality and integrity of everything in the manuscript, including text, references and images produced with AI help.
  • AI must not be used to create or alter research data or images.

Reviewers and editors

  • Manuscripts under review must not be uploaded to AI tools. Doing so breaches confidentiality and exposes unpublished work to third parties.
  • The assessment and the report must be the reviewer's own.

Undeclared or improper use of AI is handled under Misconduct and Sanctions.
